Hosted by IAL-FVG and Addeco, the Inclusive Chips Forum – Diverse Talent Driving Business Value brought together stakeholders from industry, education, healthcare, and policy to explore how inclusive workplaces and diverse talent can strengthen innovation, workforce development, and long-term resilience within the European chip sector.

Held on May 7, the forum featured a wide range of perspectives on inclusion challenges and opportunities within the semiconductor industry. Sessions explored topics including neurodiversity in the workplace, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, women in the workplace, and practical approaches to creating inclusive organisational cultures. The event also provided space for industry representatives to share best practices and real-world experiences from across the semiconductor ecosystem.

The discussions throughout the day highlighted the importance of collaboration between industry, education, and policy actors in ensuring Europe’s semiconductor workforce is equipped to thrive in an increasingly diverse and evolving sector.

Following the forum, the ECDA consortium continued its tradition of gathering for a shared dinner after project events, offering an opportunity to reflect on the day’s conversations in a more informal setting. Over traditional Italian pizza and local desserts, partners strengthened connections across the consortium and exchanged ideas for the next phases of the project.

On Friday, ECDA partners reconvened for a full consortium meeting dedicated to reviewing project progress and discussing upcoming activities. Conversations focused on the rollout of the ECDA training suite, updates on engagement programmes, developments surrounding the project’s second DEI report, and reflections on consortium collaboration and working practices.

The meeting featured insightful and productive discussions throughout, with partners actively contributing ideas, experiences, and feedback. It was also valuable to hear directly from consortium members about the diversity and inclusion initiatives already being implemented within their own organisations and institutions, reinforcing the shared commitment across the partnership to creating a more inclusive semiconductor industry in Europe.

The public-facing event, Inclusive Chips Forum – Designing the Difference, hosted by Platform Talent voor Technologie (PTvT), welcomed industry leaders, policymakers, researchers, and students for a full day of dialogue and exchange. Discussions focused on practical approaches to embedding inclusion within organisations, strengthening talent pipelines, and navigating the evolving DEI landscape across Europe.

Key sessions highlighted the role of public-private collaboration, including insights from the Beethoven project on talent attraction and workforce development in the Netherlands. Participants also engaged with ECDA-led initiatives, such as training modules designed to support inclusive practices across the semiconductor value chain.

A panel discussion on DEI backlash brought together voices from industry, policy, and advocacy to explore current challenges and opportunities, while additional sessions showcased best practices, research insights, and real-world approaches to fostering inclusive workplaces.

The forum concluded with a tour of the High Tech Campus Eindhoven, offering participants a first-hand look at one of Europe’s leading innovation hubs and reinforcing the importance of collaboration in driving technological and societal progress.

The following day, ECDA partners gathered for a consortium meeting hosted by PTvT. The session focused on project updates, knowledge sharing, and aligning on next steps to further advance the Alliance’s objectives. Partners exchanged insights across work packages and explored opportunities to deepen collaboration and maximise impact in addressing Europe’s semiconductor talent gap.

The Eindhoven forum and consortium meeting mark another important step in ECDA’s mission to build a more inclusive, innovative, and future-ready semiconductor industry across Europe.

The public-facing event titled “Future Proofing Access to Diverse Talent in the Semiconductor Industry“, hosted in collaboration with Learnovate Centre, EudaOrg, MIDAS Ireland, and SEMI Europe, featured keynote speeches, a panel discussion, and networking aimed at fostering cross-sector dialogue. Discussions centered on practical approaches to attracting and retaining underrepresented talent, the role of inclusive workplace culture, and how the industry can support equitable growth.

Attendees noted the value of meeting peers and professionals committed to creating a more welcoming semiconductor ecosystem – particularly at a time when Europe is scaling its capacity through the Chips Act.

The second day brought ECDA partners together for a strategic consortium meeting focused on project progress, knowledge exchange, and planning for the months ahead. Partners shared updates across work packages and explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration, align efforts, and maximize impact across the Alliance’s activities.
