Module 1

Module 1: Understanding DEI

This module aims to develop a foundational understanding of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), including key concepts such as diversity dimensions, intersectionality, and unconscious bias, and to enable learners to explain their relevance, challenges, and practical application—particularly within the semiconductor industry.

Unit 1

This learning unit introduces the basic ideas of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and explains why they matter. Learners will explore why DEI is important in the semiconductor industry, understand the wider context, and get ready to learn more about its main concepts and topics. The unit also looks at what helps DEI move forward and what slows it down in the semiconductor sector. Real-life examples show common challenges as well as successful actions that have shaped DEI results in the industry.

Unit 2

This training module is designed to enhance employees' understanding of key diversity dimensions—race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, neurodiversity, and generational identity—through a structured series of video lessons and self-reflective activities. Learners will develop inclusive mindsets and behaviors to foster greater collaboration, innovation, and equity within high-performance environments like the semiconductor industry. The module combines conceptual knowledge with real-world scenarios to build awareness, empathy, and actionable strategies. It emphasizes self-awareness, allyship, and the role of leadership in driving cultural change.

Unit 3

This learning unit gives a basic introduction to gender diversity as an important part of diversity and inclusion in organisations. Participants will learn why gender diversity matters in the semiconductor industry and how it shapes workplace culture and supports a more inclusive environment.

Unit 4

This training unit is designed to familiarise the participants with the concept of intersectionality. As the concept is neither well-known nor self-explanatory, the unit takes the participants on a journey of discovery: from the origin of the concept to how intersectionality feels in 'real life' and in organisations. This is achieved through a structured series of video lessons, scenario-based exercises, and self-reflective activities. The module also guides participants to apply this new knowledge, particularly to reflect on what their roles could be in enhancing intersectional fairness at the individual and organisational level.

Unit 5

This training unit is designed to equip participants with a deeper understanding of how everyday decisions are shaped by cognitive biases. Through engaging narratives, real-world examples, and interactive reflections, participants will explore how these mental shortcuts influence hiring, promotions, and team dynamics, often in ways that unintentionally undermine inclusion. Importantly, the module guides learners on how to move from insight and awareness to impact. Participants are invited to examine how their own patterns of thought, identity, and experience shape the way they lead, communicate, and include others. They will gain practical tools to recognize and interrupt bias in the moment, and reflect on ways to lead with greater intentionality and equity.

Unit 6

Practising Inclusive Curiosity in the Semiconductor Sector.
