Module 2

My Role in DEI

This module equips staff members, educators, and students with the awareness, skills, and practical strategies needed to foster a safe and inclusive environment by reflecting on their own role, addressing unconscious bias, stereotypes, and microaggressions, intervening constructively in inappropriate situations, and navigating cultural differences effectively.

Unit 1

This learning unit aims to provide a foundational understanding of unconscious bias and its adverse effects in everyday workplace situations. Practical strategies for counteracting unconscious bias at an individual level and fostering an inclusive mindset will also be presented.

Unit 2

This unit explores how unconscious biases and stereotypes can lead to various forms of microaggressions. The effects of microaggressions on colleagues will be examined, and guidance on how to respond to microaggressions in the workplace will be provided. You will learn how to actively contribute to creating a safer and more inclusive organisational culture, and be equipped with practical tools for safely intervening when witnessing or experiencing inappropriate behaviour.

Unit 3

Building everyday inclusion at work in the semiconductor sector.

Unit 4

This training unit equips participants with foundational knowledge and practical tools to build resilience and empowerment in DEI contexts. Participants will explore strategies to regulate emotional responses, foster psychological safety, and support inclusive behaviors. The unit introduces the ABCDE technique to strengthen individual resilience and emotional regulation in DEI-related challenges. It also covers building team resilience through concepts such as collective efficacy, hope mapping, and strategic empathy. Participants will examine the critical link between empowerment and inclusion and apply actionable strategies — such as deep listening, sharing credit, and advocating for others — to support peers, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds. By the end of the unit, participants will be able to apply resilience tools, empower peers, and contribute to inclusive, equitable team cultures.

Unit 5

This unit supports participants in developing the mindset and skills necessary to foster inclusive and respectful communication and behaviour in diverse workplaces. Participants explore how their behavior, language, and listening practices contribute to creating psychologically safe and inclusive environments. Through interactive exercises and real-world scenarios, learners build awareness of unconscious bias, stereotypes, microaggressions, and the power of inclusive language. They gain practical tools to evaluate and adjust their own ways of behaving and communicating, to respond constructively to communication missteps, and to practice active listening to enhance empathy and collaboration. Core topics include inclusive verbal, non-verbal, written, and visual communication; active listening; responding to communication mishaps; and applying inclusive habits in daily practice.
